Other problems: The Virginia Department of Transportation plans to build I-288 through this cemetery. All attempts at registering it with the VDHR as an historic landmark have been unsuccessful, even though it is an African-American cemetery dating from the 18th-19th centuries, and containing the remains of at least one African-American veteran.
