Cemetery Description
This cemetery is a family one. The eldest member in the cemetary is
James Sylas Cooper born Sept 22 1838. He was a confederate soldier for
Capt Coopers Company and Virginia Light Artillery He received UDC
Cross of Honor in 1906. His direct descendants are buried in this
family plot. Also, the cemetery is not fenced in. The surrounding
acres house the great great grandchildren of this soldier. They, along
with their children, and their children's children wish to be buried
in this family plot. However, due to the development of the Stafford
County Airport and four lane highway we feel that it is a matter of
time before the land will not be available for future burials.
Other Problems
The Stafford County Airport is currently being built behind the
property of Jeanette Cooper. The house and graveyard are subject to a
four lane highway that is going to encroach the homestead of this
civil war hero.

Current Status
The land in front of the house has been measured for the four lane
highway on July 7, 2000. The airport is set to open in the Spring of
2001
