History
The land was transferred by deed recorded April 24,1866 in Deed Book 1, page 160, from Ed. G. Sydnor to F. W. Johnson. The tract of land consisted of 429 acres and in the deed, 1 acre was set aside for cemeteries. Also the parcel was called Dungarvon in the deed. In re-reading this instrument there is a reference to a survey, however it was also done in 1855 and was not recorded with this copy of the deed.
Oscar Via, Sr. obtained the land called Dungarvon by a deed recorded Nov. 11, 1918, from Rebecca Pate, Deed Book 67, page 49, and consisting of 239 1/2 acres.
Several other deeds show transfers of other parcels of the original Dungarvon which were later acquired by Oscar Via, Sr., however he never obtained the entire original Dungarvon tract.
