Information was submitted, 24 June 1992 by, Mary Posey
Tallant,
1208 Southword Rd, Austin TX, 78704, and is recorded in "The
Death and Cemetery Records of Lamar Co". It states "The
cemetery is in disrepair with most all of the stones fallen and
broken"
Cemetery description
The cemetery is located on private land in a pasture. Before we
could get to it we had to obtain permission from the land owner. He
reluctantly allowed us to drive through his pasture. I can affirm that
the cemetery is in rough shape, with most of the stones broken off by
cattle and such. The owner has put a fence around it to keep the
cattle out. And although I marked "inactive" above, I would
venture to say "abandoned". I'm not sure if anyone is
responsible for it, but I can't say for sure.
Other Problems
That it will be lost forever. There is no public access and the
land owner has a very valuable home on the property and does not want a lot
of traffic to the cemetery. There were also a lot of downed limbs
(apparently from storms?) and this could be a continuing problem.
