Other_Information:
The cemetery used to sit in Shelby Co, Tn. but it was recently annexed
in to the City of Memphis, Tn. They took the land over in 1974
for ZERO dollars (3.1 ac.) The county has been assessing taxes on an
area 90x120 which is shown as a cemetery, and a cemetery cannot be
taxed. It is scheduled to go up for tax sale by the end of June 2005.
It would not be possible to bury the number of people that are buried
in this cemetery in that small of an area. Also, one residence has
extended their back yard into the cemetery.

Other_Information:
There are no headstones in this cemetery. Previous transciber
noted headstones stacked neatly along the fence. Eye witnesses
described several large city of Memphis truck at the fence area.
After the trucks left, all of the tombstones were gone. The City
of Memphis, says it owns appx 3 acres of this appx 4 acre cemetery, but
no deed can be found. They are using those three acres as a park
and deny that there are any burials on the 3 acres. Recent onsite
visit showed proof of burials on these 3 acres. The other 1 acre
or so shows on tax records to be owned by a long-defunct development
group, who now says they don't own the property. However the
property will be sold at a tax sale on June 30th if Appx $1600 isn't
paid. Cemeteries in TN are not taxable. Please Help Quickly!
