Surnames: I'm unsure of all but you can view the list in it's entirety plus pictures of
the church and headstones at our website at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~fritzzy/ go
to surnames page and on that page is a link to Mount hermon Cemtery. It follows
above url with MHC.htm or MHC.html The church still has outdoor outhouse, no
central heating (use to be just an old coal heater centralized in church). I've
been told there is a group local to that area that tried to get it preserved but
due to the doors (there use to be 1 then 2 small and now 2 large doors as one.
According to my g-aunt, they had to put in a 2nd door as it was difficult for
them to turn around in the church when they brought in the coffins in a funeral
procession and then turned around to take it out. Later 2 wide doors were put in
place of the 2 smaller ones. Surnames include: Boring, Armstrong, Baker,
Smith, Green, Bishop, Casson, Dill, Hunt, Hale, Callahan, and many others.
Other_Information:
Cemetery is still in fairly good condition. My
fear is Methodist Church will sell it off and then graves will be moved. Also
preservation of the church is of utmost importance. This is a family
cemetery and almost all in it are related one way or another.
