Other_Information:
This cemetery was at the home of Bishop Thomas John Claggett and still
contains members of his family. The Bishop and his wife were
reinterred at the National Catherial in the 1880's leaving behind
family members.
Cemetery is bordered by proposed construction for Marlton Subdivision
and if not protected more vandalism may occur. Recent visit in February
2005 shows one half of a stone remaining for Bishop Claggetts son and
graves dug into by vandals. There are no "No Tresspassing" signs
posted near the cemetery or land surrounding.
In the 1950's there was suppose to have been a burial of a child by the
Dooley/Duley Family who may have owned the property.
Land is currently owned I have been told by the Prince Georges School
Board who have taken no responsibility to restore the cemetery. There
are citizens in the area that would like to see the cemetery restored,
fences reset and graves backfilled from vandals that have dug in the
area.
There is a 4 wheel drive trail in the area adjacent to the cemetery
that further could cause damage to the cemetery by mischief.
Cemetery has been marked with orange surveyor's ribbon and sets on a
hill near the four wheel drive trail. This cemetery in need of
immediate attention...Can supply digital photo's of cemetery.
