Location
Description
The cemetery lies about a half mile off the main county road in the
woods. An old roadbed still exists but is impassible by car. The
cemetery is roughly 100x75. The graves seem to be in 3 rows. There are
3 engraved markers. The rest of the graves are unmarked where you can
see low areas or marked by stones. The area is severely overgrown with
large trees, briars, grass and all types of groundcover. There is a
partial hole in a grave when someone at sometime cam in and attempted
to dig around the grave of a confederate soldier.
Other Problems
If a road isn't cleared and the cemetery cleaned the cemetery will
remain in the mess its in to only get worse and will finally be lost.
No one will know it even know it exist after my generation is gone.
Previous Contacts
I have written a letter to the Governors office Ronnie Musgrove and
have not received a response. I contacted the courthouse in Benton
County where I was told unless I can provide a law that states that
the county is obligated to repair the entrance road or clear it off
nothing will be done.
Current Status
I have gotten nothing done about this situation what so ever. Is
there anyone else I can go to for assistance?
