Other Information
This cemetery was partially cleared by the
county in the early 1990's when county worker discovered it in the woods
and undergrowth. Per a Jasper County newspaper article (my copy is not
dated), the Dept of Archives mandated the cleanup because of the grave
of a Revolutionary Soldier (Edward Young Terral) as well as several
Civil War Soldiers. visited the cemetery in August 1999, but found it
only from directions of an elderly woman down the county road. There is
no sign, and no stones are visible from the county road. There are
pioneer settlers of MS Territory buried there with some of their
descendants, and it is shameful that such an historic place is
completely neglected and unmarked.
