Other Information
In a visit with my 81 year old mother, Louise
O'Daniel Carlisle Moore, we visited the cemetery. I had visited this cemetery
40 or so years ago when the wrought iron fence was still standing and
several grave monuments were still in place, but until the recent visit,
I had not thought about the cemetery. It is our "old" family cemetery
or my mothers and I hate to see history disappear, not to mention the
respect for our ancestors.
Update:
June &
October 2001, My wife, my cousin, and myself
have worked on clearing and cleaning up the
grave area. We worked with the land owner to
assist us with re-errecting the large grave
stone monument. It consists of a 4ft. statue of
a standing female figure on a 8" thick
square base and these were mounted on top of a
larger square marble stone approximately 19 to
20" high. The entire momument is about six
feet tall. Additionally, we arranged for the
land owner to install a steel, cattle proof
fence to surround the graveyard to further
protect the remaining small foot stones and the
large momument. The vegetation in the area is
very prolific and needs to be removed at least
annually to keep the vines and weeds from
overtaking the entire plot.
