Directions:     Travel Hwy. 330 South of Coffeeville until you get to the Gums Crossing turn off on County Road 221. Go across the Skuna River and turn onto County Road 229 and follow the road signs to Carver Point on Grenada lake. When you get to Carver Point you will be in Grenada County. Instead of going into the Carver Point area, take the right at the turn and stay left for about 2 miles before you come to the dead end at the cemetery. Between Carver Point and the cemetery you will have passed a couple of marked and gated roads to the right, but stay left. If you go trying to find the cemetery, don't ask someone where the Horton cemetery, because there is a black Horton cemetery about 6 miles from there to the east of Carver Point that is on a blacktop road. It is the most well known of the two, and you will probably end up there. Total distance from Coffeeville to our cemetery is about 15 miles. The lake will be just below the cemetery and the cemetery will be to the right of the road. .

Other_Information:

This cemetery is in danger of becoming inaccessable, which is illegal to let happen. It is almost impossible to access it without going in a truck with good dround clearance. There are a couple of non-Horton's buried there, but I don't have the names in front of me. In the early 90's someone drove through it and broke two of the oldest headstones. Because the family took action, the county put up a crude fence around it. Now, the fence has become the target of people who evidently have no respect for the cemetery. The County Supervisor will not maintain the road leading to it, and it is hard to get to. I hope that this will change soon. I have been working on the cemetery and fence as I can. It is hard to keep it up nicely though, because it is so isolated and far away from where I live. The cemetery has a small path through the middle of it until you get about halfway into it. It stays somewhat grown up even though I try to work on it each year. There are supposed to be a few unmarked graves in the cemeter
