Other_Information:
The poor farm later became the Green Acres Residential care
facility.Which the state of Missouri recently closed up.St. Joseph city
officials and Buchanan Co. officials got together to build a bunch of
retail stores. The Shoppes at Northridge now stand on appr.80 acres of
the main 160 acres of the former poor farm.Rumors are the city of St.
Joe plans on future developement on the remaining 80 acres. The location
of the cemetery is unknown according to officials and they don`t seem
to want to find out.All the care abt. is more businesses for St.
Joe.There `s a book that listed 19 people listed as BURIED HERE between
1880-1894 and I know of a lady named Diamond who died in 1912 and her
death certificate says shes buried in Co.Poor Farm Cem.The county and
city officials attitude seems to be we can`t let a bunch of long dead
poor people hold up St. Joe`s progress. That`s the way it seems to me,as
they sure don`t want to talk abt. this cemetery and they don`t want to
know where it is.There may be no markers at all
Support:
Call the Buchanan Co. Commissioners,Mayor Jones of St. Joseph, or any
other of these worthless politicians in St. Joe or Buchanan Co.,Mo.If
enough people call maybe they`ll know they can`t get away w\ this
dececraction of a cemetery
by officials who should be counted on to help protect our
cemeteries, not break the law and destroy them by covering them w\
asphalt and buildings.
