Many notable revolutionary war soldiers, privateers and
colonial ship captains are buried here. This cemetery is bursting
with history. The condition is horrible. For a city that boasts
about its connection with history, Newburyport seems to have no
interest in preserving this place. An animal has taken the
cemetery over, which digs avg. 1 foot deep holes everywhere, many
into graves so that the stone falls over or into the hole. Broken
stones are everywhere.
