Springfield, MA. Original Improvements done in 1932, by John F.
Madden, Agent of Dept. of Public Welfare, Springfield, MA. and men who
were supported by Welfare(1932), dug trenches to place bodies closer
together, etc.
Owner: City of Springfield, MA. Cemetery is in a city park with
no sign , hidden in woods and forgotten. Markers are numbered, no
names, placed in rows and buried.

Other problems: There are unknown "poor" people
buried here, no records, no flags (if a veteran), hidden in the woods
of the park. Markers are only numbered, some broken, buried, missing.
No way of knowing this is a cemetery and no security. Threat of
vandals, that wouldn't be seen in this area. A memorial was dedicated
in 1981.
Previous contacts: City Planning, City Hall, Parks Dept.,
Catholic Diocese of Springfield, MA., Springfield Health Dept., No one
knew anything about this cemetery. Blunt Park maintenance men are the
only ones who know this cemetery exists, other than police officers
who patrol the park.
