Other information

This cemetery has been hidden from sight for many years. But a housing development is planned on this property. Bulldozers have knocked fallen trees upon the cemetery. I fear that development could threaten this cemetery with 3 civil war veteran graves. This cemetery is just off of KY 52 in western Estill County. From Richmond KY this cemetery is 14 miles east. A new subdivision road has been built nearby. The cemetery is close to lots that are being sold for $18,000 per acre. I fear that the urge to remove a few unmarked graves could be a temptation to the builders of Lafayette Estates. This cemetery is located on the most level part of this proposed subdivision. Only 3 of the 40 graves are enclosed in an ancient iron fence.
