Other Information

The cemetery was in poor condition and total disrepair. Some graves stones had been knocked down and the position of the grave lost. The Harrison County Slave Cemetery Preservation Society has cleaned and mown the area recently bringing out what is left of the cemetery. The one white child buried there is the grandson of Kentucky's past Governor Joseph Desha. The child and a number of slaves buried there died of cholera. There are graves within the walls and on the outside of the walls. The only carved grave stone is the white child's grave the rest are marked by field stone.
