Other_Information:
Hello,
I went to Spencer County to see the graves of my ancesters on August 5,
2005. It is located, travel north on Highway 55 for 4.8 miles, turn
left on highway 1169 and go 3/10 mile. Turn left on 1633 and travel
8/10 mile. The cemetery is located on a hill to the left in the middle
of what is known locally as dead man's curve.
Buried there are;
Wm. K. Marquess departed this life Nov. 6, 1812, age 82
EI. M. Marquess departed this life Apr. 26, 1826, age 77
J. Allen departed this life Dec. 15, 1815, age 52.
William Kidd marquess is the son of John Marquess and Margeritt Kidd,
Eleanor Magruder marquess is the daughter of John Magruder and Jane
Offutt. James Allen is their son-in -law. The cemetery is almost gone,
I did find two stones someone had set at the top Martha Maddox and
Martha Everert. if anyone knows of a historical group or church that
could preserve this cemetery I would be most grateful.
Thank you
Andrea Cowser
