Other Information
This Cemetery was destroyed by a construction
company while building a ball park for Bevill State College in Sumiton,
Al. Located just behind City hall in Sumiton, Al. There were 3 to 4
graves in the area where deceased coal miners were buried sometime back
in the 1930's and 40's. I had brought this to the attention of the City
officials recently. Also the adjoining area is to be also reconstructed
by the college and I would like someone to look in on this before other
graves are destroyed. A old Black Lady told the construction crew of the
graves when they started but they ignored what she had told them
Support
Mrs. Jackson a preacher that lives adjoining the
cemetery and her brother James Gaines. Also Inez Davis a lady that once
placed flowers on these graves.
