Other_Information:

he old Cemetery was beautiful and many family buried there including my ancestors, we know they are buried there but can't get to them. Many years ago a logging truck took a short cut and ran over many of the graves. I would like to see that these graves are taken care of. The land is owned by Dr. Arthur (?) Wood of Waynesboro, Mississippi. He is a a Dentist there. I have contacted the Doctor he told me that I was welcome to come on his land if I didn't mind getting shot at by Deer Hunters in the winter and watching out for snakes in the summer. The land is next to the newer Escatawpa Cemetery, I offered to by the land and he said ,"No, not unless I bought the whole 800 acres." That was the end of the conversation. Please let me know if I can do anything. I live in Columbus, Georgia, four hours away, but I can be there with a little notice. I am willing to write letters or call on anyone. I just want to find my Great grandparents, Doctor Joseph Ryan Waldrop and Sarah Ann Baxter Waldrop. Dr. Waldrop was a Doctor, Physician, Justice of the Peace and State Rep. of Washington County 1878-1870. Dr. Waldrop was ambushed , shot and killed in Escatawpa, Al. near the Old Escatawpa Cemetery. This was in the Mobile Register Newspaper. He was killed August 1870. I would love to find his grave clean it up and have a marker for him.
